Angry amanda email delivery from: issue

    hi all!

i have a server with authomatic reporting via email account with smtp authentication. i use senmail (postfix auth did not work for me) which is set up using .mailrc file:

    Code:
    set smtp=mail.aaa.com
    set [email protected]
    set smtp-use-starttls
    set [email protected]
    set smtp-auth-password=secret
and from the command line evr is good:

    Code:
[[email protected]:~]$ echo "test" | mail -s "test" [email protected]
gets emails correctly on the way.

however to do that i had to set up masquerading of host name bacause domain of my backup server (mfs01.cluster1) is unknown to the smtp server.

now the strangest thing happens: if amanda sends me an email it gets rejected by smtp (bounces back)!

the reason is that From: still remains with the 'original' name which is invalid for smtp server.
    Code:
The original message was received at Thu, 14 Apr 2016 12:06:42 +0200
    from localhost [127.0.0.1]

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
    <[email protected]>
(reason: 553 5.1.8 <[email protected]>... Domain of sender address [email protected] does not exist)

----- Transcript of session follows -----
    ... while talking to mta-gw.infomaniak.ch.:
    >>> DATA
<<< 553 5.1.8 <[email protected]>... Domain of sender address [email protected] does not exist
    550 5.1.1 <[email protected]>... User unknown
    <<< 503 5.0.0 Need RCPT (recipient)
strange thing! why is From: address wrong in the amanda email? how can i change it?

    thanks in advance!

    Default

UPD. for now i solved it by changing backup server hostname (domain) to a subdomain which is of a known domain for smtp.

however, i do not like this solution, so if anyone can help with above - i'd be grateful!
