Thread: installing amanda client on Red Hat 7

Default installing amanda client on Red Hat 7

I'm pretty new to this - so please forgive me if I'm missing something simple.

I'm attempting to install the amanda 3.3.1 client on a new server running Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.2

I've run the yum and made sure the /var/lib/amanda/.amandahosts file matches a working machine - the other machine has an older version Linux on it. This is my first attempt to run amanda on an Linux 7 system.

I've installed xinetd and it shows green when I run: systemctl status xinetd

I added the client to the disklist on the host - but I am unable to get amcheck to run there. I'm assuming firewall issues.

When I attempt a backup I get: planner: ERROR Request to <clientserver> failed: timeout waiting for ACK

Can someone please give me some pointers on where to look next? Thanks in advance.

    Default

Turns out we had redhat 7 set to not install xinetd. I installed xinetd AFTER I'd yum'd amanda.
