Amanda Overwrite on the Tape
Hello
I am New to Amanda, While working with amanda found that Amanda is overwriting on the tape which is the biggest drawback for me cause I am using tape library, and one tape haping capacity of 6.25 TB and my Full backup is of 1 TB, How can I maintain it week wise so that I have every week data with me as a full backup so that if want to restore my data from the full backup of 3 years back of a very specific date made possible.
please guide me on this.
Thanks

Amanda can't append multiple run to the same tape?
The only you can do is do the backup to holding disk (require a 6.25 TB holding disk) and do an amflush every week.

Can you try to strace the amidxtaped, or attach a debugger to it.
Add a sleep at the beginning of the program to allow you enough time to attach strace or gdb.
