    Default tpchanger chg-robot not getting configured properly

    Hello,

    I am using Amanda 3.3.4 on RHEL 5 server edition. I want amanda to automatically load and unload tape from my robotic library for which I am using tpchanger ch-robot, Now problem is that I am trying to use IBM tape drivers with mtx which is not working for me.
    #mtx -f /dev/IBMtape0 inquiry
    cannot open SCSI device '/dev/IBMtape0' - Device or resource busy

    and if same is done against os driver it gives following-
    # mtx -f /dev/sg1 inquiry
    Product Type: Tape Drive
    Vendor ID: 'IBM '
    Product ID: '03592E05 '
    Revision: '1A33'
    Attached Changer: No

    So if I try to use OS drivers then mtx commands are working for me but after configuring these os drivers in my amanda.conf and then trying amcheck it says /dev/sg1 is not a tape-device.
    Plz help me where I am wrong and problem is with mtx or with my configuration. Looking for immediate help as I am stuck with it since days.

    Regards,
    Sunita

    Default

    /dev/sg1 is the changer device, not the tape device.
    What is the tape device? is it /dev/IBMtape0?

    define changer ... {
    tpchanger "robot:/dev/sg1"
    property "tape-device" "0=tape:/dev/IBMtape0"
    }

    thanks for the reply..
    in my case, /dev/sg1 is a tape drive.. see the following out of # mtx -f /dev/sg1 inquiry describes

    Product Type: Tape Drive
    Vendor ID: 'IBM '
    Product ID: '03592E05 '
    Revision: '1A33'
    Attached Changer: No

    Its /dev/changer for changer in my case.
