Default Backup Failed [data read: recv error: Connection reset by peer]

    Greetings

Apologies if this is the wrong forum - the Win-32 forum looks a little stale.

We've been using Amanda for around 8 years with great success. Server is running 3.2.1 on CentOS 5.6 Clients are other CentOS 5.6 machines, a Windows 2000 server (sydsrv15) and recently added was a Windows 2008 server (sydsrv10). The odd thing is that this last server doesn't always fail - sometimes it just works.

It's this last one that is causing us some grief. Here's the log from last night:

amcheck reports zero problems when run each afternoon.

I checked on the Windoze box and saw a number of log files in the debug folder. Times range from last night at 20:00 (start time of backups) through to 21:39 and then another at 08:30 this morning (when from memory I ran an amcheck again. Here's a sample of them:

Could anyone advise as to where I should start looking? Any input would be most gratefully accepted. The machine in question is running the entire business and I really need to get some backups happening.

    Thanks and Regards

Check whether you are seeing data timeout?

I wish I was. What I got this morning was (to me) rather cryptic (it's the sydsrv10 line that's the problem btw):

    Hostname: sydsrv08.jamesons.com.au
    Org : DailySet1
    Config : DailySet1
    Date : June 7, 2011

*** A TAPE ERROR OCCURRED: [No acceptable volumes found].
There are 127307740k of dumps left in the holding disk.
Run amflush to flush them to tape.

The next 2 tapes Amanda expects to use are: DailySet124, DailySet125.

The only other mention this machine got was:

As you can see - just a "Failed".

Appreciate the response - was starting to feel a little lonely

check the amdump file for data timeout. The Windows client closed the network connection because there was a connection failure.

Checked it and I can't see any problems (IANAE however).

Have attached relevant amdump file to this post for perusal.

Thanks for the input so far.

    The error are:
    [No acceptable volumes found]
[Skipping: a full is not planned, so can't dump in degraded mode]

The solution is to put a tape amanda can use in the tape drive.
