    Unhappy Malformed response from changer

    hello amanda gurus!

    I am having some difficulty creating tapes with my amanda server. Originally it was working fine, but the server lost the ability to use the tapes (it would just hang ad inifinitum) and it seemed the thing to do to delete the tapes and start fresh. I have even un-installed the amanda backup server (3.2.1) and installed version 3.2.2

    when I run amlabel on the slots this is the response I get:

    Code:
    -sh-3.2$ for ((i=1; $i<=15; i++)); do /usr/sbin/amlabel -f SNJH SNJH-$i slot $i; done

    Here is my tape changer setting:

    Code:
    tpchanger "chg-disk"
    And this is my tapetype definition in my conf file:

    Code:
    tapetype HARDDISK # what kind of tape it is (see tapetypes below)

    define tapetype HARDDISK {
    comment "Backup to Virtual Tape"
    part_size 1024 mbytes
    length 20480 mbytes # each tape is 20 Gigs
    }
    Here is my file info:

    Code:
    tpchanger "chg-disk"
    tapedev "file:/var/bak/SNJH/slots" # the no-rewind tape device to be used
    changerfile "/etc/amanda/SNJH/changer"
    changerdev "/dev/null"

    Here is my taper file info

    Code:
    -sh-3.2$ ls -l /var/bak/SNJH/slots/
    total 30
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 amandabackup disk   5 May 26 18:23 data -> slot1

    drwxr-xr-x 2 amandabackup disk 512 May 26 18:23 slot9
    This is my changer file:
    Code:
    -rw-r--r-- 1 amandabackup disk 0 May 26 20:59 /etc/amanda/SNJH/changer
    And in case I'm missing something I'm including my conf file as an attachment.

    Default

    It is one of the $changerfile-* file that is corrupted
    It can be the $changerfile-slot that is empty, you can put a '1' in it.

    It is better to use the new changer API (man amanda-changers)
    tpchanger "chg-disk:/var/bak/SNJH/slots"
    Remove tapedev, changerfile and changerdev
