Thread: amanda root-access

    Default amanda root-access

On the amanda server, I would need to inclue root user in the following line in .amandahosts file for amrecover to work.

    client1.fulldomain root amandabackup amindexd amidxtaped

But I dont want root to be able to directly ssh to the amanda server. Is there another solution to this?

The requests for ssh connections originate from the server, not the client.

The only reason to have .amandahosts on the server is to allow the server to back itself up. The amanda user is for the server code. The client code has to run as root in order to get complete backups. But when the server backs itself up there is no traffic actually going out on a wire.
