I was at least successful in getting it to do a backup. Haven't gotten around to testing recovery. Here is what I did:
- wget http://www.zmanda.com/downloads/community/Amanda/3.1.1/Ubuntu-10.04/amanda-backup-server_3.1.1-1Ubuntu1004_i386.deb
- dpkg –i amandaXXXX
-- Dependency errors
--- apt-get –f install (fixes dependencies)
- amadmin xx version | grep CLIENT_LOGIN
-- CLIENT_LOGIN=”amandabackup”
- amadmin xx version | grep CONFIG_DIR
-- CONFIG_DIR=”/etc/amanda”
- amadmin xx version | grep libexecdir
-- libexecdir="/usr/libexec"
-- amlibexecdir="/usr/libexec/amanda" mandir="/usr/share/man"
- amadmin xx version | grep listed_incr_dir
-- listed_incr_dir="/var/lib/amanda/gnutar-lists"
- mkdir /etc/amanda/DailySet1
- cp /var/lib/amanda/example/amanda.conf /etc/amanda/DailySet1
- vim amanda.conf
-- logdir “/etc/amanda/DailySet1/logs”
-- infofile “/etc/amanda/DailySet1/curinfo”
-- indexdir “/etc/amanda/DailySet1/index”
-- tapelist “/etc/amanda/DailySet1/tapelist”
-- define dumptype zwc-normal {
-- global
-- auth "bsdtcp"
-- program "DUMP"
-- }
--
-- define dumptype zwc-compress {
-- global
-- auth "bsdtcp"
-- maxdumps 1
-- compress client fast
-- program "DUMP"
-- }
- chown -R amandabackup:disk /etc/amanda
- su – amandabackup
-- cd /etc/amanda/DailySet1
-- mkdir logs
-- touch tapelist
-- exit
- vim /etc/amanda/DailySet1/amanda.conf
-- holdingdisk hd1 {
--- directory “/space/amandahold/DailySet1”
-- }
- mkdir -p /space/amandahold/DailySet1
- chown -R amandabackup:disk /space/amandahold/
- vim /etc/amanda/DailySet1/disklist
-- test-server-x32 “C:\\Data” zwc-compress
- su – amandabackup
-- vim .amandahosts
--- test-server-x32 amandabackup
-- exit
- vim /etc/amanda/DailySet1/amanda.conf
-- tapedev “file:/space/amanda-vtapes/tape”
-- mkdir /space/amanda-vtapes
- chown amandabackup:disk /space/amanda-vtapes
- su – amandabackup
-- mkdir –p /space/amanda-vtapes/tape/data
-- amlabel DailySet1 DailySet1-0
-- amcheck DailySet1
--- I got an error her saying “could not open amcheck output file /tmp/amanda/amcheck.temp.XXX: Permission Denied”
--- As root, I ran chmod –R 0770 /tmp/amanda and was then able to run amcheck DailySet1 just fine.
-- amdump DailySet1
