The SAGE book on Backup and Recovery reports that Amanda does not support backups across multiple tapes for a particular file system. Is this still the case? We need to back up multi-terabyte file systems to LTO4, spanning many tapes. We do not expect a file to be larger than a tape, though we could imagine having this problem also. Does Amanda/Zmanda now support the notion of multivolume (in gnutar) or some similar method to span tapes? How are large backups handled?

Both Amanda community and Amanda Enterprise provide tape spanning for several years now. Please provide feedback to the book's author. Thanks
