Now I reconfigured my amanda.conf on the server side and got the following errors on client...

    Code:

    /test means directory on client:

    Code:
    # ls -la /test/
    total 8
    drwxrwxrwx 4 amandabackup amandabackup 512 Mar 19 11:56 .
    drwxr-xr-x 21 root wheel 512 Mar 19 11:55 ..
    drwxr-xr-x 25 amandabackup amandabackup 1024 Jan 18 15:04 samba-3.4.5
    drwxr-xr-x 2 amandabackup amandabackup 512 Mar 19 11:36 tmp
And there is a disklist on a server:
    Code:
    # cat ./disklist
    amsterdam /test user-tar
Where amsterdam is an Amanda client.

    So what's wrong this time?..

The error for /test is simply that there is no such filesystem for Dump to dump on the client. Go back to your DLE as wanting to backup /var . . .

Looking back, I see you installed AMANDA before installing Dump. I'll bet the amanda installation script didn't know what group to put amanda into... AMANDA user needs to be in the "disk" group. ("id amandabackup" will list groups, and "adduser amandabackup disk" should add to group.)
