Thread: Storage Cloud Communication Error

  1. #1

    Default Storage Cloud Communication Error

Hi I upgraded ZCB from 1.1 to 2.0.2 (Build 19996) and it kept all of my backup sets, but when it attempts to upload to Amazon it fails with the error, "Storage cloud communication error"

I have used "Cloud -> Check Amazon S3 Connection" and the communication is successful.

I have also searched the forums with no results.

    Any ideas?

After upgrading to 2.0.2.2 from 2.0.2, and 1.0.2 (two different machines) I get this message when I try to enable "Secure transfer to cloud"

"Validation of backupset (backupset name) failed. No VSS writer information about the data to be backed up is available."

I should also mention that on both of these machines the backupset was for "Windows System State".

    Hi,
Alongwith the output of vssadmin, could you also send the logs.

    Regards,
    Prashant

    prashant, thanks for responding.

I think this issue has been cleared up after a reboot of the servers. Both machines that displayed this message were able to enable "secure transfer to the cloud" and both of them were successful in their over night backups.

I am happy to provide more info if this will help you, otherwise thank you for the support.

I am trying to setup a new backup of a Windows System State and saw the same error of "No VSS writer information about the data to be backed up is available"

I ran the command ("vssadmin list writers") and here was the output:

nwebster, what version of Windows are you running where the system state backup fails with "No VSS writer information about the data to be backed up is available"?

One box is Windows Server 2008 x64, trying to do a Windows System State backup.

The other box is a Windows Server 2003 x32, trying to do an Oracle on Windows backup.
