Default not enough free space, what delete?

    Hello,

    Tape DailySet1-07 label ok
    Server check took 0.147 seconds

    Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check

Client check: 4 hosts checked in 0.300 seconds, 0 problems found

(brought to you by Amanda 2.5.2p1)

    orome:/home/backup$ /usr/sbin/amcheck DailySet2
    Amanda Tape Server Host Check

    slot 21: read label `DailySet2-021', date `20100128'

    Tape DailySet2-021 label ok
    Server check took 0.358 seconds

    Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check

I don't know what I can delete in the directory /home/backup to free space.
    The directory contains:

    orome:/home/backup$ ls -l /home/backup
    total 0
    drwx------ 2 backup backup 105 2009-07-13 22:26 20090713221501
    drwxr-xr-x 3 backup backup 29 2008-03-19 17:08 DailySet1
    drwxr-xr-x 3 backup backup 18 2008-10-08 15:31 DailySet2

    greetings,
    Hans-Jürgen

If that's just your holding disk and otherwise backups have been running fine there may be left over folders in there from ages back that didn't clean up correctly. In that case I think you can just delete them. Check with amadmin and amoverview to see when backups have run.

Amanda will still run without a holding disk, but there are performance and recoverability (is that even a word?) drawbacks to it.

If your backups haven't been running properly (not writing to tape) then your holding disk may have the last of the backups spooled to them. These can be written to tape when you get the tape storage working again although I can't remember the command (possibly amdump or amrecover, check the man pages).

The command to flush holding disk to tape is amflush but, looking at the time stamps, it doesn't look like anything has gone to your holding disk in a long time.

Is the space in /home/backup what has used up all of your space in /home?
