    Question BackupPC vs Amanda Client

    Hi,

For pc's what is best BackupPC or amanda client ?

    How compare between ?
    Are integrated ?

    I got an idea:

Use backupPC to backup windows clients, then backup the centralized repository with amanda. What do you think ?

    Thanks

For pc's? You mean Windows? You could use the Zmanda Windows client, or you could use BackupPC. Either has advantages. With the Windows client, you are integrating everything and controlling it from the server. You can include the Windows machines in your regular dump cycle, put them on tape, etc.

If you choose to use BackupPC, you get an advantage from deduplication. I haven't used it, but I think you may get an easier user interface from the pc user's perspective. The backups could go to the server, and then Amanda can back those up. So, sure, your suggestion is a reasonable option.

    Hi,

For pc's I mean mostly windows and few mac and linux. I think the configuration will be done by the beginning of the next week (hope).

My doubt about BackupPC is how secure is sharing directories for all pc's into a enterprise.

    Thanks
