Default amrecover: cannot connect to amandahost: Success

I am getting the following error trying to run amrecover for the first time:

    amrecover DailySet1

AMRECOVER Version 2.5.0p2. Contacting server on amandahost ...
amrecover: cannot connect to amandahost: Success

Any ideas on what is causing this?

    Thanks

    amcheck ran okay?

4 places to look for additional info: Amanda tmp directory for debugging, Amanda log, system log, and possibly an email report.

Are the xinetd services running and correctly defined?

Default amrecover: Could not read from control socket: Success

I had this strange error and hat to run "amcleanup OnceAWeek" to solve it...

    ################################
    amrecover> extract

Extracting files using tape drive /dev/tape on host localhost.
The following tapes are needed: OnceAWeek1

    Restoring files into directory /backup/amanda
    Continue [?/Y/n]? Y

Extracting files using tape drive /dev/tape on host localhost.
    Load tape OnceAWeek1 now
    Continue [?/Y/n/s/t]? Y

    [root@backup amanda]#

Cool Found something interesting related this issue

you will get the message "amrecover: Could not read from control socket: Success" if you have canceled (using kill ####) the running amanda backup because you need to restore some data. This also assumes the the config you killed is the same config you are using for the restore.

I failed on three attempts at amrecover before I googled and found this thread.

Running amcleanup was the fix. Thanks for posting.
