Default Issue while working with amanda (2.6.1p1-1.fc7 version)

Hello,

I have been trying to install amanda-backup_server-2.6.1p1-1.fc7 version and it's respective client in my servers. I have configured one server as the amanda server and the other one as amanda client. I have resorted to the steps as mentioned in the url --

http://amanda.zmanda.com/quick-backup-setup.html

My agenda is to backup a desired directory ( having all data) in the client server, by invoking amanda using DailySet command, from the amanda server.

I have almost reached the final stage and ran the command -- amdump DailySet1 ( to initiate the backup).

However iam getting the error consistently --

-sh-3.2$ amdump DailySet1
amcleanup: /etc/amanda/DailySet1/amdump exists, renaming it.
Can't open tape device /dev/YOUR-TAPE-DEVICE-HERE: No such file or directory
Insert tape into slot 6 and press return
or type "NONE" to abort
none

I have reconfigured amanda and ensured that all steps in the installation link are well followed. Please advice.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Gokul

Hmm, well, it looks like you have "tapedev /dev/YOUR-TAPE-DEVICE-HERE" in amanda.conf, which is not right. You'll need to point that to your actual tape device.
