Thread: Windows client + ACLs

    Default Windows client + ACLs

    Hi,

    i have a new problem

    On our recent windows, we installed Zmanda Windows Client, in order to replace the actual save which uses samba share.

    We have an inconvenient issue: ACLs are not saved (or not restored, i don't konw). As i read in the wiki that ZWC is suposed to save it, i think i'm doing something wrong ...

    We have 2 computers: FEDBOX (on Fedora 10, amanda 2.6.1p1), and WINBOX (on WindowsXP, ZWC Community Edition, IP 172.16.80.233);

    Here is the configuration on FEDBOX:
    /etc/amanda/test/disklist
    Code:
    172.16.80.233 C:/amandatest zwc-compress
    /etc/amanda/template.d/dump-types
    Code:
    define dumptype zwc-normal {
       global
       auth "bsdtcp"
       program "DUMP"
    }

    define dumptype zwc-compress {
       global
       auth "bsdtcp"
       compress client fast
       program "DUMP"
    }
    /var/lib/amanda/.amandahosts
    Code:
    172.16.80.233  amandabackup amindexd amidxtaped
    And this is what i do, to test:
    Code:
    amcheck -c test
    amandabackup@FEDBOX$ amcheck -c test

    Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check
    --------------------------------
    Client check: 2 hosts checked in 1.159 seconds. 0 problems found.

    (brought to you by Amanda 2.6.1p1)
    On WINBOX, I add a user to the proprieties of a file (it's a user of the Active Directory). See [URL="http://abazivok.free.fr/chm/im1.jpg"]This screen[/URL]

    Code:
    amandabackup@FEDBOX$ amdump test
    amandabackup@FEDBOX$ cat /etc/amanda/test/log/log.

    Then i try to restore :
    Code:
     amandabackup@FEDBOX$ amfetchdump test 172.16.80.233 C:/amandatest 20090527090017

    The following tapes are needed: test-09
    Press enter when ready

    amfetchdump: slot 9: time 20090527090017 label test-09 (exact label match)

    amfetchdump: 2: restoring FILE: date 20090527090017 host 172.16.80.233 disk "C:/amandatest" lev 0 comp N program pkzip
    I transfert this file to WINBOX, extract it, and can see that the right i have given to the AD user has disapear (he doesn't appear at all, in the list of rights).
    As you can see on [URL="http://abazivok.free.fr/chm/im2.jpg"]this one[/URL]

    (We have the same problem if it's a local user)

    Hope my explanations are clear; if not, ask me

    Thanks by advance

    CHM.

    1. Are you using different locale (other than English)?

    2. Did you take a look at windows client logs for errors to check if it is a backup problem?

    3. How did you extract the recovered zip file on the Windows box?

    First, thank you for helping me

    1) It's a french version of Windows, as you can see on the screenshot, so i suppose "yes". Fedbox uses fr_FR.UTF-8.

    2) i switched to loglevel 5 (in ZWC-Config) and restart amdump; It seams that everything works fine :/
    here is the log: [URL="http://abazivok.free.fr/chm/LogFile.txt"]Log[/URL]

    3) Well, right-click, "7-Zip", "Extract here", "Replace all" :s

    Edit: i think i misunderstood something: what is exactly the difference between file *.0 and *.1 ?

    We have not tested in this environment. So, it is not a surprise that there
    are problems.

    Can you try pkunzip for extraction? Log files are rotated. ".0" is the most recent one.

    We usually use pkunzip for extraction in our testing.
