amandabackup doesn't have access to /dev/sg5
Hello,
I am trying to setup Amanda to perform backups, and when I run amcheck daily it fails out saying Changer problem: cannot open SCSI device '/dev/sg5' - Permission denied.
I know if I try to run any of the mtx commands as amandabackup, it fails with the permission denied. My question is how do I give amandabackup permission to use a device? I tried adding the user to the backup group, and even the root group, and still no dice.
I am running Ubunut 8.10 and Amanda 2.6.1p1.
Any information would be great. Thanks.

What's the group of /dev/sg5
Do the group have r/w access to it.
You can also change the owner of /dev/sg5 to amandabackup

Thanks for the tip. I found out that the group was tape, so I added amandabackup to the group tape and it works fine now.
Thanks!
