So now the process is listening on the box, but backup is still not working.
    I'm still getting this error:

Can you add "debug_auth 1" to your amanda.conf and retry, post the resulting chunker.*.debug files.
Did localhost resolve to an IPv4 or IPV6 address?

    Hi Martine, Dustin,

The problem was with the solaris 9 amanda server box. It had ipv6 set up on the box, and even when i've complied both client and server with the '--without-ipv6' argument the
chunker still tried to bind on ':: port number' (ipv6 address). So i've unplumbed the ipv6 interfaces on the box restarted the inetd process and long behold... it was working.

Not sure why the '--without-ipv6' ./configure option didn't work.

    Cheers, Mosh.

If you can post your system's config for other readers, that would be helpful.

It does seem that Solaris systems ship with a half-configured IPv6, which tends to confuse Amanda. I'm surprised the --without-ipv6 didn't work, too. Maybe it was misspelled? ./configure doesn't give an error message for misspelled options.

    Default Hi Dustin

Been on holiday overseas. i can definitely say that there was no misspell of "--without-ipv6" since i copied it straight from the help output.

Do you still need my systems output? what exactly?

Also before i left for holidays i created an amanda package for Solaris 9 which includes client and server. is it any use to you guys?
