View Full Version : ZRM and XFS, does it really freeze?

According to Zmanda support and documentation, if the underlying filesystem is XFS, the ZRM will use filesystem freezing when doing LVM backups. However, I can't find an occurrence of 'xfs_freeze' anywhere in the source tree. As best as I can tell, the following commands are run when creating a snapshot:

flush tables with read lock;
system (lvcreate -L10240M -s -n dbsnap /dev/mysql );
unlock tables;

When I ran these commands manually as part of a process to spin-up new slave databases from a master database, I had corrupt MyISAM tables until I added in an xfs_freeze command before the lvcreate. Am I missing something here? It looks like ZRM doesn't actually run xfs_freeze.
