I have been asked if Amanda is a better backup solution than what we are using, currently it's Veritas. Just wondering if anyone has done any comparisons to other products or has supporting data that I may access to see if I can swing management over to amanda?? Please help if you know where I can get this info at???

Thanks

Hi

Briefly, the strength of Amanda over some of the prorietary solutions are

- Usage of native tools [like dump] to do the back-up. You can retrieve your
data without Amanda.

- Single server, multiple client un-attended backups.

- A smart scheduler that optimizes your backup window

- Any devices support by the OS you are running, is pretty much supported
by OS.
You can find more information about the strengths of Amanda at

Hope this helps.
