Hello Amanda people

Amcheck has started reporting

Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check
--------------------------------
ERROR: hostname: [BOGUS REQUEST PACKET]

since I've split up some DLEs into smaller bits. I think this is because there are too many DLEs to fit into a UDP packet.

But I've switched to bsdtcp on the basis that this would remove that limitation. The dumptypes include

auth "bsdtcp"

and /etc/xinetd.d/amanda looks like

service amanda
{
only_from = host.domain.org.uk host localhost
socket_type = stream
protocol = tcp
wait = no
user = backup
group = disk
groups = yes
server = /usr/lib/amanda/amandad
server_args = -auth=bsdtcp amdump amindexd amidxtaped
disable = no
log_on_failure = host userid
}

Is there something else I need to do?

cheers

Chris

To answer my own question, I think the answer is that my version of Amanda is compiled with '--with-bsd-security' rather than '--with-bsdtcp-security'.

I'm using the standard Debian-packaged Amanda, and I haven't got time work out how to compile from scratch at the moment, so I'll have to live with fewer DLEs.
