Hi,

Uploaded my first backup to S3. 4.88GB in 12 minutes at 57888Kbps.

Is that considered a good speed on a 100Mbps line?

I configured it to use 10 threads. Would I likely see better throughput if I increased the number of threads?

thx!

Hello,

Increasing the number of threads may get you more upload speed, depending on a number of factors, such as the amount of memory in your PC.

Also, are you using "Backup to Cloud" or "Backup to Disk and Cloud"? If you are backing up to Disk and Cloud, increasing the thread count will only cause an increase in upload speed to a certain point, based on the the disk write speed.

Try increasing the thread count a few at a time. Eventually, you will not see any further improvement. Increasing the count too high can actually cause slowdowns.

Thanks,
Eric

You may also look into increasing the block size.

But overall getting 58% of peak available is likely a reasonable upload speed.
