hi, i've just installed zmanda on my ubuntu servers.
Mysql debian package has no ssl support, i wonder if i can backup the databases in the network without ssl support.

I'm assuming you will be using ZRM for MySQL to backup your MySQL Databases right? :) (even though you've posted in the Amanda Forum)

Yes you can backup your databases over the network without SSL on mysql configured.

Just be aware any data transmitted over port 3306 (standar MySQL port) will NOT be secure.

Also will you be backing up remotely over the LAN OR WAN?

If you will be going over a WAN it is recommended that you use the SSH copy plugin.

So at least any data copied from your remote MySQL server to your ZRM server will be secure.
