View Full Version : NDMP configuration

I try to configure amanda to backup a NetApp Filer using NDMP.
The tape is connected with FC to a tape drive and is seen by the filer. As specified in the man of amanda-devices, in amanda.conf, I add :
tapedev "ndmp:baobab1.supagro.inra.fr:10000@nrst1a"
device-property "NDMP_USERNAME" "ndmpuser"
device-property "NDMP_PASSWORD" "password"
device-property "NDMP-AUTH" "text"
and amcheck indicates no error on the tape server side. I can see in the logs of the netapp that this part of amcheck seems ok.
A dump started from the Netapp, works, and writes datas onto the attached tape, that I can recover (using dd and restore).
The problem is that I don't know how to start a backup on the Filer from Amanda. I spent a long time reading the doc. I added various things in the dumptype section (ex: data_path DirectTCP) but without success. I also ran amndmjob, and communicated with the filer. But I don't understand what exactly must be written in the dumptype section (if the problem is really here).
Did someone succeed to do something like that ? What is the correct amanda.conf file ?

Control and management of NDMP backups are currently supported only in Amanda Enterprise edition.
