Hello,
this is my problem.
Iīve installed amanda-server on "backup-agp.domain.es" and amanda-client on "thais.domain.es".
Backup runs everynight correctly. But when I try to restore a file I canīt.
If I try amrecover from server, I get:

[root@backup-agp ~]# amrecover turdep_backup
AMRECOVER Version 3.1.3. Contacting server on amandahost ...
220 backup-agp AMANDA index server (3.1.3) ready.

The file existing at "/amanda/turdep_backup/index/thais.domain.es/_var/" is 20110516090008_1.gz

And if I try from the client:

[root@thais ~]# amrecover turdep_backup

The amindexd log shows:

Amindexd try to unzip the 20110516090008_1.gz to 20110516090008_1.

Do /amanda/turdep_backup/index/thais.domain.es/_var/20110516090008_1 exists?

Do the userid 33 can write to /amanda/turdep_backup/index/thais.domain.es/_var ?

Do /amanda/turdep_backup/index/thais.domain.es/_var/20110516090008_1 exists?

No, it doesnīt. But if I try gunzip 20110516090008_1.gz, into 20110516090008_1, recover give same result.

[root@backup-agp _var]# ls -l
total 32
-rwxrwxrwx. 1 amandabackup disk 1423 may 12 02:52 20110512023002_1.gz

-rw-------. 1 amandabackup disk 1381 may 16 11:45 20110516090008_1.gz
[root@backup-agp _var]# gunzip 20110512023002_1.gz
[root@backup-agp _var]# ls -l
total 36
-rwxrwxrwx. 1 amandabackup disk 5680 may 12 02:52 20110512023002_1

Do the userid 33 can write to /amanda/turdep_backup/index/thais.domain.es/_var ?

yes, it is amandabackup:

more /etc/passwd
....
amandabackup:x:33:6:Amanda Backup
.....

[root@backup-agp slot4]# ls -l /amanda/turdep_backup/index/thais.domain.es/_var/
total 32
-rwxrwxrwx. 1 amandabackup disk 1423 may 12 02:52 20110512023002_1.gz

Thanks in advanced

I only disabled SELINUX, at /etc/selinux/config. Change "Enforcing" to "Disabled" and reboot.
Bye

I am having the same problem. Any resolution here? I have tried everything I could think of to resolve this, shy of completely reformatting and re-installing the software. If I cannot find an answer soon, then that will be my next move, which I am really not looking forward to. I have scoured the internet in search of a solution, and I am beginning to feel pretty hopeless that I will find one. If anyone can help me out here, you would have my undying gratitude. I am thinking that if I am forced to reformat, that I very well may just go ahead and buy a new system instead. I am thinking about stopping in hhgregg (http://press.hhgregg.com) and seeing what they have to offer. I have not yet been to this establishment, so I am somewhat curious as to what kind of deals they have. Thank you very much.
