Hi,

I have a problem. Before I went on holiday I switched off amanda as I couldnt change the tape.

If I run "amcheck DailySet1" now, I get the following error:

ERROR: NAK 127.0.0.1: access as operator not allowed from operator@localhost

My /home/amanda/.amandahosts:
127.0.0.1 root

Why doesnt it work anymore?

Amanda: 2.5.0p2,1

Thanks for your help.

Nobody?

I give you some more information:

netstat -a | grep amanda returns:
tcp4 0 0 *.amandaidx *.* LISTEN
udp4 0 0 *.amanda *.*

ps ax | grep inetd returns:
571 ?? Is 0:00.05 /usr/sbin/inetd -wW -C 60

I deleted the .amandahosts file but still got the same error. A firewall is not running on my server and I dont think amanda is trying to get a connection via my router...

This is the content of my /tmp/amanda/amcheck.xxx.debug
amcheck: debug 1 pid 1473 ruid 2 euid 0: start at Mon Jan 15 14:05:07 2007

Hi,

likely amanda is installed and run as operator.
Try add the following to /home/amanda/.amandahosts:
localhost operator

--Kevin Till
Zmanda

Results in the same error message. I really wonder...

I reconfigured cups recently but I forgot what I changed. It was a similar problem. Hm...

Any other idea?

I tried to telnet my localhost on port 967 which was refused.

netstat resulted me the line:
udp4 0 0 *.amanda *.*

This is ok?

Hi,

there is still not enough information to guess what went wrong.
This page might help:

Please go through the checklist.

Somebody on the amanda IRC helped me to figure out the problem.
I accidentally deleted the users homedir in passwd.

Thanks for your hint.
