Hi All,

I have been struggling to find a way to do proper offsite backups with AMANDA.

Currently I take a full backup, dump to a single tape and take the tape offsite for storage. To backup the configuration, logs, etc. I am tarring up the /etc/amanda/config dir and just scp'ing it to my office.

Surely there is a better way to backup my config? I am backing up /etc on the amanda server. Let's say our datacenter exploded, and all I have is an encrypted tape and no separate config backup. How can I get the config from the encrypted tape so I can restore my data? Thanks!

Maybe you should do a separate (second) backup "unencrypted" of your key data.
