Hello, I'm new to Amanda and hope to get some help from forum. Appreciate for your reply.

I have configured Amanda and executed amcheck, like following:

Amanda Tape Server Host Check
-----------------------------
ERROR: holding dir /dumps/amanda: No such file or directory, you must create a directory.
slot 2: read label `DailySet1-02', date `X'

NOTE: skipping tape-writable test
Tape DailySet1-02 label ok
WARNING: tapecycle (2) <= runspercycle (2).
NOTE: info dir /etc/amanda/DailySet1/curinfo: does not exist
NOTE: it will be created on the next run.
NOTE: index dir /etc/amanda/DailySet1/index: does not exist
NOTE: it will be created on the next run.
Server check took 0.234 seconds

Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check
--------------------------------
WARNING: Usage of fully qualified hostname recommended for Client localhost.
WARNING: localhost: selfcheck request failed: timeout waiting for ACK
WARNING: 192.168.4.166: selfcheck request failed: timeout waiting for ACK
Client check: 2 hosts checked in 30.009 seconds, 2 problems found[/FONT]but got several problems:

1. Haven’t /dumps/amanda got an upper directory? Why did system indicate that “Cannot create such directory for it does not exist”? I am utterly confused.
2. What does the warning “tapecycle (2) <= runspercycle (2)” mean?
3. Why do both localhost and 192.168.4.166 timeout? I have run the command ping in terminal in server and it works…

PS: Amanda in client and server runs under GTES 11 in virtual machine, if it matters.
