Hello!

I'm new to BSD and needing the good pointers please for startup of a working Amanda/FreeBSD 8.1 Backup Server.

Are there any new to Unix Setup Guides out there Amanda Forum members.?

I see the below but it looks more than 2yrs old, and with multiple options for me to pick to try I guess.

http://wiki.zmanda.com/index.php/Installation/OS_Specific_Notes/Installing_Amanda_on_FreeBSD

My setup is fairly simple, I hope to backup to Disk on my FreeBSD 8.1 Server at night and run a job to an Arcvault12 Library during the day for long term retention.

Really needing to replace the crap Backup Exec Srvr 2003 and run Open Source Backup on my new FreeBSD Server..
Backup will be of 6 2003 Servers with 2 running Notes, and a couple running SQL.

Is there an "easiest method possible.." for Installation to FreeBSD 8.1?

Thank you!
jc

I'm no BSD Expert, but....

There is noting for someone who is new to Unix; we assume you are reasonably adept at the command line in your shell of choice and your text editor of choice. You might check with our *BSD Platform Experts, http://wiki.zmanda.com/index.php/Platform_Experts, for resources, or the relevant project home pages.

One place to start with Amanda is http://wiki.zmanda.com/index.php/Quick_start.
