Hi all,

I have two ubuntu linux machines. One installed with amanda client 3.1.1 and the other installed amanda server 3.1.1.

I followed the setup instruction here - http://www.zmanda.com/quick-backup-setup.html

But when i issued 'amcheck -c DailySet1', i got connection time out. the logging info is as follows:
Tue Aug 17 09:00:21 2010: amcheck-clients: make_socket opening socket with family 2
Tue Aug 17 09:00:21 2010: amcheck-clients: connect_port: Try port 700: available - Success
Tue Aug 17 09:03:30 2010: amcheck-clients: connect_portrange: Connect from 0.0.0.0.700 failed: Connection timed out
Tue Aug 17 09:03:30 2010: amcheck-clients: connect_portrange: connect to 79.125.2.184.10080 failed: Connection timed out
Tue Aug 17 09:03:30 2010: amcheck-clients: stream_client: Could not bind to port in range 700-710.
Tue Aug 17 09:03:30 2010: amcheck-clients: security_seterror(handle=0x8071758, driver=0xb7f23a40 (BSDTCP) error=Connection timed out)
Tue Aug 17 09:03:30 2010: amcheck-clients: security_close(handle=0x8071758, driver=0xb7f23a40 (BSDTCP))

Then i tried with the suggestion from this page without success - http://wiki.zmanda.com/index.php/Selfcheck_request_failed

it was stuck there without giving any information when i issue 'amservice clienthostname yourauth noop </dev/null'

i check the protocol in both server and client, they looked allright - 'bsdtcp'
also check connection from client to server with ssh, and it was successful. and firewall looked good as well.

Not sure where the problem is from? help will be highly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Cheng
