View Full Version : Can AMANDA do a full, live, disk image ala ghost on Linux

Hello all,

I have recently installed Desktop Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit on a Gigabyte 880GA-UD3H MB. There are 2 500GB WD drives running in RAID 1 using the North Bridge and BIOS to configure.

I am having trouble finding a solution that will allow me to do an online or offline disk image backup. I will be using AMANDA to protect the data, but there will be a lot of time that goes into installing and configuring the system so I would like to be able to take a hard drive snap shot.

I have tried Cloudzilla Live, but it doesn't recognize the RAID 1 config so I see both drives independantly. I figure if I can find a way to do it against the live system, then I won't need to worry about the RAID 1 config since I get that for free.

Is that something AMANDA can do? If so, could you please point me in the right direction?

Thanks a lot.

This is not something Amanda does.

Googling on "linux ghost" turns up several candidates. However, I am not sure any of those will take a live snapshot because of the problems involved.
