when I try:
amanda-dwnload]# rpm -ivh amanda-backup_server-3.1.0-2.rhel4.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libcurl.so.3 is needed by amanda-backup_server-3.1.0-2.rhel4
libidn.so.11 is needed by amanda-backup_server-3.1.0-2.rhel4
tar >= 1.14 is needed by amanda-backup_server-3.1.0-2.rhel4

so I TRED ME OLD PAL yum

when i try:
yum -y install amanda*

so -- what might be best? I *think I might need to 'fix' yum like add a repsitory(?)

any assistance would be appreciated. thanks!

Zimbot,

Yum, at least the base repositories of Yum, will not have the files you need. You may find that it works better with rpmforge set in your /etc/yum.repos.d

Sadly, I don't' seem to have my original install notes, but I do remember my original methods.

#locate libcurl.so
/usr/lib/libcurl.so.3
/usr/lib/libcurl.so.3.0.0

Okay so query the rpm that would provide this:

# rpm -q --whatprovides /usr/lib/libcurl.so.3
curl-7.15.5-2.1.el5_3.5

I think originally I kept trying to install and listening to complaints until I had loaded all prerequisites. I thought I made notes.... but I don't seem to have them now.
