View Full Version : Is 1.4T just too big for Amanda?

I am trying to back up a 1.4T filesystem on the local host. I have increased all the timeouts in the ZMC to two hours, and the estimate phase is still timing out with either:

planner: ERROR Request to localhost failed: timeout waiting for REP

localhost /pool1/backups/services2 lev 0 FAILED "[disk /pool1/backups/services2, all estimate timed out]"
planner: ERROR localhost NAK: timeout on reply pipe

Is 1.4TB just too big for Zmanda? This is a Sun X4540, and the filesystem is a 20-disk raidz array and it is very fast.

I changed the "Estimate" Advanced Option from "reliably accurate" to "historical average" - I'll report back and see if that helps.

Can I just skip the planner phase completely?

The issue is probably not the size of filesystem. It might be number of files in the
file system.

I'm not sure what estimate algorithm is in use in your configuration. It is possible to skip
this phase.

Can you please open a support case at Zmanda Network?
