Hi there,

I have a few questions

1: I dont seem to get any email regarding restore. Is it possible to recieve a mail if restore was a succes, failure?

2: Furthermore is there a feature so I can upload my backup to S3? I cant seem to find that feature? (I am not running ZRM and databases in the cloud)

3: yesterday I was doing a backup from ZRM to a remote server (internal network) it took 10 minutes. After altering the memory from 512MB to 4094MB it takes 5 times as long. I really dont know if thats the cause. Ill try to lower it when the dump is complete.

Date : 2010-02-24
Time : 10:25:02
Destination : /data/zmanda-backup
Host : xxx.u.net
Level : Full
Mode : logical
Read Locks Time : 00:04:19
Time Taken : 00:10:13
Size : 5.09 GB
Replication : No
Compressed : Yes
Encrypted : No
Size (after compression/ encryption) : 1.21 GB

Its been 20 minutes now and the dump is not transfered yet.

Update

3: I gave the vmware machine 512 mb ram and now its all good - what could possible be the problem allocation more memory?

ZRM sends notification only for backups because they are scheduled. We will consider
sending emails when restore is completed.

For S3 backups, you will have to use S3fs or Elastic drive to mount S3 as a filesystem on
ZRM server.

Hi Paddy,

Thanks for you answer if will look into S3fs.

I do have another question. Yesterday I tried to backup a remote slave database using logical backup.

SlaveA (backup)
SlaveB (restore)

1: On SlaveA:stop slave;
2: Press backup
3: All went fine but when I restored the backup to another SlaveB- I got a few errors.

Last_SQL_Error: Error 'Duplicate entry '4339969' for key 'PRIMARY'' on query. Default database: 'xxx'. Query: 'INSERT INTO checkout (nid, uid, timestamp) VALUES (4339969, 543, 1267108916)'
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

Last_SQL_Error: Error 'Duplicate entry '9e482a9728ed53c22c433d69fd3fbc1d' for key 'PRIMARY'' on query. Default database: 'xxx'. Query: 'INSERT INTO sessions (sid, uid, cache, hostname, session, timestamp) VALUES ('9e482a9728ed53c22c433d69fd3fbc1d', 281, 0, '80.160.109.245', '', 1267109415)'
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

Last_SQL_Error: Error 'Duplicate entry '1c812c1be11210b3a030e27630bfef35' for key 'PRIMARY'' on query. Default database: 'xxx'. Query: 'INSERT INTO sessions (sid, uid, cache, hostname, session, timestamp) VALUES ('1c812c1be11210b3a030e27630bfef35', 507, 0, '10.86.193.171', '', 1267168172)'
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

The content after syncing (start slave;) the SlaveB database was different from SlaveA even though they are at the same position.

Now Im trying again using the "Use MySQL Replication" feature.

I tried to add the ssh keys from ZRM to Client

mysql:x:1001:1001::/var/lib/amanda:/bin/sh

su - mysql

$ ssh-keygen -t rsa
Generating public/private rsa key pair.
Enter file in which to save the key (/var/lib/amanda/.ssh/id_rsa):
Could not create directory '/var/lib/amanda/.ssh'.
Enter passphrase (empty for no passphrase):
Enter same passphrase again:
open /var/lib/amanda/.ssh/id_rsa failed: No such file or directory.
Saving the key failed: /var/lib/amanda/.ssh/id_rsa.
$ ls -lrt /var/lib/amanda
total 4
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2009-10-30 16:40 templates

UPDATE

I Fixed the shared key and can login with mysql user from SlaveA to SlaveB without using a password.

Still have the problem using the "Use MySQL Replication" feature

The duplicate entry error during restoration could be http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=45677

Check mysql user/mysql group can read /var/lib/mysql files. Which copy plugin are you using?

I think you are ZRM enterprise user. You may want to open support case for more help.

thanks,
Paddy
