View Full Version : openSUSE 11.2 amanda

I am running amanda for several years, so I think the configuration is ok. ;-)
After an SuSE online update of amanda to version x86_64 I have the following problem. Running amcheck at the server just for one client and one disk:
amanda@muemmel:/var/log> amcheck -c mue_hd muemmel1 sdb2

Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check
ERROR: muemmel1: [can not execute /usr/lib/amanda/runtar: Permission denied]
Client check: 1 host checked in 0.239 seconds. 1 problem found.

(brought to you by Amanda 2.6.1p1)The amandad debug file at the client, the interesting part only
OPTIONS features=ffffffff9ffeffffffff7f;

OK sdb2

OK /dev/null read/writable
OK /tmp/amanda has more than 64KB available.
OK /tmp/amanda has more than 64KB available.
OK /etc has more than 64KB available. And now: important: the amanda version on a PC with an INTEL Processor works fine, this error happens only an a PC with an AMD Processor. Both PCs are identically in the amanda configuration and before online-update all went well.
amanda@muemmel1:/var/log> ll /usr/lib/amanda/runtar
-rwsr-x--- 1 root amanda 10776 21. Jan 00:47 /usr/lib/amanda/runtarAt last I downgraded to the previous version of the amanda package: amanda- The failure still exists.
So I believe, this is not an amanda problem but rather there is a faulty system library amanda uses. But how to figure out that?
Any hints? Wilfried
This is a cross posting. I posted this 5.2.10 at forums.opensuse.org (http://forums.opensuse.org/applications/432377-oss-11-2-amanda.html#post2115482) but without success.

Does amanda user belong to amanda group?

Check the xinetd configuration on both machines. The group line should have
correct group.
