View Full Version : Problem in backing up multiple databases from different hosts

November 12th, 2006, 05:22 AM
hey friends,

I have already installed ZRM 1.1 on Fedora Core3. We are running few servers having different versions of Mysql like Windows 2003 having Mysql 4.1, Centos 4.0 having Mysql 4.1, Fedora Core 3 having Mysql 5.0, Windows XP 5.0 .

I am trying to backup all the databases from different hosts on one server that is fedora core3. The problem I am facing is that I am able to backup all the databases but only in directory. I have created different directories for each backup but the backup is going to only one directory. Under this directory (/backup/database) dailyrun,dailyrun1,dailyrun2 & dailyrun3 are there and there are backup.sql under these dailyrun's.

Backup should be like this
/backup/database should contain dailyrun which backups health

/backup/database1 should contain dailyrun1 which backups health1

/backup/database2 should contain dailyrun2 which backups health2

/backup/database3 should contain dailyrun3 which backups health3

Sorry I am hiding the real database name for the security reasons.

mysql-zrm.conf under /etc/mysql-zrm/dailyrun1/

databases= health1
html-report-directory= /var/www/html/mysql-zrm/reports/

few changes made to mysql-zrm-scheduler1

my $def_dest="/backup/database1";
my $prog="mysql-zrm-scheduler1";

0 22 * * * /usr/bin/zrm-pre-scheduler --action backup --backup-set dailyrun --destination /backup/database --backup-level 0 --interval daily
0 4 * * * /usr/bin/mysql-zrm --action purge --destination /backup/database
30 22 * * * /usr/bin/zrm-pre-scheduler --action backup --backup-set dailyrun1 --destination /backup/database1--backup-level 0 --interval daily
0 4 * * * /usr/bin/mysql-zrm --action purge --destination /backup/database1
0 21 * * * /usr/bin/zrm-pre-scheduler --action backup --backup-set dailyrun2 --destination /backup/database2 --backup-level 0 --interval daily
0 4 * * * /usr/bin/mysql-zrm --action purge --destination /backup/database2
30 21 * * * /usr/bin/zrm-pre-scheduler --action backup --backup-set dailyrun3 --destination /backup/database3 --backup-level 0 --interval daily
0 4 * * * /usr/bin/mysql-zrm --action purge --destination /backup/database3

I had to create mysql-zrm-scheduler for each host that I need to backup for example mysql-zrm-scheduler1 as with mysql-zrm-scheduler I was not able to
backup to the directory defined in mysql-zrm.conf.

Please let me know if you need any further inputs.

Thanks & Regards

This is a bug 12 (http://forums.zmanda.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=12)reported in the forums.

This issue has been fixed in ZRM for MySQL release 1.1.1. You can downloads it from
Zmanda downloads (http://www.zmanda.com/downloads.html) page.

Please let us know if you still have problems with 1.1.1

Thanks for reporting the problem,
