Dear All

While restoring files using amrecover to the backup server the file ownership of the restored files are set to "amandabackup"

But if i restore the files to the client from where i did the backup, the file ownership resembles the original data

Is there a way to have the file permissions set as the original after restoring the files to the backup server

Tnaks and Regards
Rajesh

Can you please provide more information?

1. Are you using same version of GNU tar on both backup server and the client? I'm assuming that you are using GNU tar as backup program.

2. Are you restoring as "root" user?

Please check amrecover logs in both cases.

thanks,
Paddy

Yes the GNU tar version is same

i am running amrecover as root user.

all the files with UID as root didn't change but the files with UID as zimbra changed to amandabackup while restored to the backup server m/c.

i have tried both high-tar as well as comp-user-tar.

i didn't see any log files for amrecover in both the m/cs

thanks for your replay and expecting a solution for this issue

Rajesh
