View Full Version : curinfo and index dir

amanda2.4.4.p3 with RHEL 4

running "amcheck MYCONFIG_NAME" gives:

info dir /var/lib/amanda/MYCONFIG_NAME/curinfo: does not exist
index dir /var/lib/amanda/MYCONFIG_NAME/index: does not exist

So I create the curinfo and index dirs, and run "amcheck MYCONFIG_NAME" again:

info dir /var/lib/amanda/MYCONFIG_NAME/curinfo/MYSERVER_NAME: does not exist
info dir /var/lib/amanda/MYCONFIG_NAME/index/MYSERVER_NAME: does not exist

So I create the MYSERVER_NAME directories. I run amcheck again:
could not open conf file "/etc/amanda/MYSERVER_NAME/amanda.conf": No such file or directory

Why is amcheck trying to open the conf file there? The conf file goes in /etc/amanda/MYCONFIG_NAME ?

And I am STILL getting a connection refused error from amrecover even though I can ssh into the server! See post http://forums.zmanda.com/showthread.php?t=1342

Are you actually using the values MY_CONFIG_NAME and MYSERVER_NAME? They are intended to be place-holders for the name of the configuration and the name of your server (respectively.)

On another note, this is a really OLD version of Amanda. You will probably have better luck, both with getting support, as well as with finding up-to-date documentation if you download a newer version of Amanda from:

So, you did need to create the first set of directories.

In the second case, the "info dir /var/lib/amanda/MYCONFIG_NAME/curinfo/MYSERVER_NAME: does not exist" should be warnings (maybe they weren't in 2.4.4, dunno, I was still a kid back then).

In the third case, you gave the wrong config name. Your config is named MYCONFIG_NAME (which is, as Ken said, a funny name for it), not MYSERVER_NAME (which is also a pretty weird name for a server).
