Hi,

I am using Ubuntu Server 7 (no graphical interface, only terminal interface) and the amanda server for backup 8 windows XP client by SAMBA in a newspaper company.

Some computer file/directory name are using Chinese character in Windows XP. After the backup, I am using amrecover and find that the file/directory name is just the symbol (eg. ^^^^^^.txt)

As I did try to retrieve this file from the backup-archive by extract the whole directory (eg. directory /test ). But the file is missing from the extract.

Anyone knows how to backup those file/directory are the chinese character or other east-asia characters such as Japanese and Korean?

Thanks.

Zmanda Windows Client (http://wiki.zmanda.com/index.php/Zmanda_Windows_Client) does better job of handling multi-byte characters. We have not tried backing up Chinese character set. Please try and post your observations here.
