View Full Version : Planner Empty Schedule

I have installed AMANDA server on RHEL 4, and I'm able to backup at least one client. But for the rest of my clients I get this error message:

"WARNING driver WARNING: got empty schedule from planner"

When I run "amcheck -c DailySet1", it return no errors.

Any ideas?

What version of Amanda is this?

amanda 2.4.4P3-1

An empty schedule means that you're not backing up any clients -- can you clarify the difference between the working state and the non-working state?

Also, 2.4.4 is *old* -- is an upgrade possible?

I can put one client in Disklist file and it will backup. When I put other clients in the same file, it fails with the above mentioned error.

Thanks, James

Can you attach the planner debug file

Where is the logfile located and what is the naming format?
We might be able to send it.

Thanks, James

It should be under /tmp/amanda. Search for 'planner.*', and pick the one with the most recent datestamp on which a run failed.

I have the same problem going on. When I look for a planner file, however, I cannot find one.

What was the resolution to this problem?

Amanda version 2.5.2p1

Thank you.

The "empty schedule from planner" error will happen whenever Amanda is unable to perform an estimate for any of its DLEs. So I suspect that each of the folks on this thread is actually seeing a different underlying cause giving the same message.

For james, the key is to figure out what is failing. It may be a misconfiguration for one of the DLEs that is somehow causing Amanda to crash. It's hard to say what that might be in such an old version of Amanda. Examining the amdump log may provide better insight.

@Dustin

hey - I am also troubleshooting an installation of 2.6.1p2 - running on CentOS and doing 1 backup of a Windows client. This has been running fine for well over a month now. However, its been failing the past few days.

First it was "estimate of level 2 failed", then "Failed Reading dump header" +"request failed: timeout waiting for ACK".

I've poured over some other posts and tried to run amservice - see my post here: http://forums.zmanda.com/showpost.php?p=9982

but.. I also got the "driver:WARNING:got empty schedule from planner"

here is the planner.*TIMESTAMP*.debug
