Default Recover data when amanda server crash

    Hi everybody,

I'm a new amanda user and I have a question about amrecover:

If my amanda server crash (I mean if I have to reinstall the OS or the server is physically broken) is it possible to recover the data ? Of course I backup everyday all amanda files (like /etc/amanda folder).

Can we just reinstall amanda server and use the same tapes to recover the data ?

I hope I was clear (despite my English).

    Many thanks

"Amanda uses native dump and/or GNU tar utilities. Since there are no proprietary formats, in case of emergency, data could be recovered with native utilities, regardless of whether or not Amanda is still installed."

You can find detail at here http://wiki.zmanda.com/index.php/Amanda_chapter_in_Backup_and_Recovery#Amanda_recov ery
